Ugh... can I use this tube with this tire?

Well, my tube is now officially unpatch-able. All I have on hand is a 18-23mm tube, can I use it with a 32mm tire or am I destined for a trip to the lbs?

I'm thinking it will work for emergency service but I wouldn't ride farther from home or my car than I was willing to walk back. If it was my bike I'd be buying a couple of new, properly sized, inner tubes.

That's a great price, unfortunately I don't want to wait for them to ship. I had an old 25mm tube sitting around so I figured I would see what happend.... POP!!

Plan B: I had an extra set of 20mm tires laying around so I put the 18-23mm tube with the 20mm tire to keep my bike in commission for the time being. I will get to the lbs for a 32mm tube later this week hopefully. Makes for a strange looking bike, 32mm on the front and 20mm slick on the back....

Yeah you can use it for the trip to the LBS. I wouldn't ride very fast either if it's for a front wheel. I've used a 23c tube in a 30 tube once. Worked fine. Changed it out asap.

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

It would be fine with a 23mm tube and 32mm tire...

If something was to puncture the tire it would puncture your tube more quickly than if you had a 32mm tube (becuase the smaller tube would be stretched thinner and might tear at the puncture), but otherwise it would be just fine to ride for a while.

I'll be the dissenting voice and say it doesn't matter a bit. I'm using 16-25 tubes in all my bikes, with tires from 28mm to 38. Never had a single problem because of using the wrong sized tube.

Install it and forget about it.

I once fixed a mountain bike flat (26 x 2.0) with a 27 1 1/4/700x28-32 or whatever, since I forgot to switch tubes from the road to mountain seat bag. It worked fine. Little less than convenient, but it worked.
