    Motobecane seatpost/seat collar question

    All,

I'm assembling a 2009 Motocabene Nemesis tri bike. It's going well and I'm almost done, but I have a question about how to attach the seat post (yes the included documentation is not very good and not specific to the bike I purchased--otherwise the bike looks good.)

The bolt that seems like it should tighten the seat post just appears to be hanging down in the seat tube with nothing to tighten it to. Am I missing something here? Here is a picture of the setup from the Bikes Direct Website:

I'm waiting the BD service people to get back to me, but I'm impatient to go for a ride. Any advice would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello. it looks to me like ther should be some sort of wedge affair like for a quill stem. where was that bolt when you unpacked the bike? did you picth out the dunnage yet? take a flashlight and look down in the seat tube it may have just fallen down and gotten stuck.

I'm sure it operates like a quill stem, or a newer variation on that technology. The piece that goes to the bolt might be missing.

I'll do some checking. I didn't throw out any of the packaging, so hopefully the missing piece is in there somewhere. Thanks.

For anyone with a similar problem: I turned the bike upside down and nothing came out of the seat tube. So I used a flashlight and saw the seat clamp wedged way down in the seat tube. 10 minutes with a coat hanger and I managed to fish it out and get the seat installed properly.
