Replacement freehub for Alvio fh mc12?

I'm looking for a replacement freehub for the Shimano alvio fh mc12, 7 speed rear.

The only replacement alvio freehub I'm seeing is for the mc18, 8 speed rear.

I'm fine with that freehub if it would fit my hub. Will that freehub fit, or will I have to look for something NOS?

It may. The shimano techdoc doesn't list compatibility between models for that freehub body unfortunately. Typically the problem you'll get with trying to interchange freehubs from different speeds/models is that the upper dustcap will be incompatible with the cone/locknut/dust cap on that.

Sometimes you can manipulate the dustcover on the freehub or on the axle set to make it work but sometimes it won't. In other words - don't know. If you can pull up the techdoc for your 7 speed hub/freehub then you can check it against the cone/hardware on that side with this:

https://techdocs.shimano.com/media/te...9830608947.pdf

That might work to determine compatibility.

So I'm just going by the appearance of part #s 3-10?

The easiest way to do this is to walk into a well stocked LBS and see if they can find a replacement that would look compatible.
