Fenders for an Electra Townie?

Is there any reason I can't just slap in a nice set of 60mm aluminum fenders from Velo Orange on a 26" Townie? Looking at the pics on Electra's site, it =looks= like a set of bog-standard 26" fenders, albeit wide enough to swallow the 26x2.00 tires, tho the site says they won't fit any other bike but the Townie. I know that's not true for the front - it's a rather universal-looking Sunrace suspension fork - but would I be in for a lot of trouble trying to get it to fit out back with the standard hardware?

You probably could make it work since most fenders are designed to be universal, but I would recommend the LBS to make sure it fits with different ones they have in stock. They will also have any extra hardware you may need.

With enough hardware and p clamps, you can mount fenders on almost any bike. Just not simply and elegantly. Once you get them, post your exact situation and the forum will find a way.

But I don't think V-O makes 26 inch fenders, that may pose an issue

Should work just fine. VO does have 26" fenders http://www.velo-orange.com/vo60fefor26w.html
The sliding bridge is what makes this easy.
