stem/fork help

Hey all,

I have a newish trek 820 and im trying to remove the stem. the 2 hex nuts on the front of the stem seem to be welded shut. Also, the top bold wont budge. Does anyone have ay suggestions how to fix/remove this? Im thinking of cutting the 2 cross bolds to loosen it.

Thanks,

u.

should be an allen head on the other side - most likely a 5mm but I've seen 6mm too

Squirt a little PB Blaster, penentrating oil, or WD-40 on the back and front.

Wut?

That's the normal looking end of a hex bolt. Use a high quality p-handle hex wrench, may give you enough leverage.
