    question about my 70's italvega..

    i just purchased a set of alex rims at400 700c.i only bought for 15 bucks..i was wondering if i can swap my 27 inch rims..but im not sure if the 9spd cassette will work on my vintage..i called the shop..they said it would b a little easier to swap because my gears dont click its based on friction..not really sure what he meant by that..can someone help me pls..i really dont want a fixed gear..i like all the use of my gears...

    If your brake shoes can be moved down 4mm in the slots then you can make this change fairly easily

    The "click" they are talking about is index shifting. If you don't have it and don't need it don't worry about. The shifts on a nine speed will take quite a bit of getting used to because they are so close together.
