dog scratched my new carbon frame.
I just bought a 09 specialized tarmac pro frame from the shop that sponsors my team. like an idiot i left the box in my living room and when i returned the puppy I have was chewing on the bubble wrap. when i looked at the frame i noticed two small knicks near the top tube. it seems as though she only scratched the paint and didnt actually knick the carbon. the scratches are about the size of a pen tip or a bit bigger. besides being cosmetic, should I have anything to worry about? Thanks in advance for the input.

You'll be able to tell if it's just damage to the clearcoat. If it hit the fibers you're screwed.

the color of the bike is black and where its scatched its white. i doesnt look deep.

that frame is junked now. you'll need to send it to me for safety reasons :P

Don't worry -CF frames aren't that delicate, if they were they would be impossible to safely sell.

It's fine, just cosmetic. Specialized's clearcoat is fairly easy to nick, but a puppy can't really eat the frame. Try some clear nail polish to hide the nicks and enjoy your new bike.

I'd be more concerned for the dog...

Need pics - bike & puppy

Whatever you decide, don't harm your puppy.

You need to feed that dog!

Time for dog stew.

Better than the photos I have seen of a Glock pistol frame chewed on very thoroughly by a dog. It had to be sent to Glock for a full frame replacement. Very few modern plastics are dog proof apparently.

I had my rear derailer sucked into the rear wheel where it broke and the pulley assembly came around and hit the seat stay. See it here:

bye bye doggie
"how much is that doggie, in the window?"
"the one that chewed his masters bike frame" I love pups... but if he were mine, He'd be GONE! Bike 1st. |
I'll see if I can get a good picture of her. She is a 5 month old german shepherd that is almost 60 lbs. If she wanted to she could destroy any of my bikes, which is why they are all hanging on my apartment walls. Thanks for all the input.
