I had trouble putting my finger on a good description, but you NAILED it.
Someone seems to love pastels and light blues - just lovely. Unreadable, but lovely to someone.

Well, I'm not a big fan of the new look, but the pastels aren't all that bad. More important to the reading bit is that the fonts in certain areas (like the QP editor) are tiny. And many of the buttons are wildly different sizes (e.g. the New Posts button is practically microscopic).

When I opened it, I thought this was going to be a thread about 2010 Gary Fisher bike pricing!

Hey, isn't the iSpy page new? It's pretty cool.

I'm quite sure Poppin Fresh, the Pillsbury Doughboy, loves the new format. Of course. tubby little thing that he is, he's probably not into cycling. bk

seems like they took a look at the old page design and wondered how they could make it less useful and more bogged down. they did accomplish that!

Glad I am not the only one to have this feeling about the new look. I find it much harder to read -- makes me a little sad.

I just did a screenshot to screenshot comparison of the old layout and the new one - we have decreased width AND height availalble. Look at these two screens of the exact same thread on the exact same monitor/resolution.

Scrolling is also much laggier now due to rendering of ******** bloat everywhere - e.g allt he coloured boxes etc. Seriously WTF.

1)The ads are bigger and every message box size is also smaller.
2)On multipage threads, you can no longer access the last page without actually clicking INTO the thread.
3) Increased dead space on the left side of the page
4) Increased dead space on the right side of the page

Nice upgrade!

I couldn't agree more!
Quite possibly the worst forum UI that I've ever seen.
Lord knows how one puts in attachments (photos) now.
This forum has been Drewed & screwed!

Is there any way to turn on "User Interface Lite"? The @#$$%! scroll lag makes me dizzy.

I doubt I'll be around here much anymore. And if I meet the Pop-In-Fresh Pillsbury Dough-Boy, i'll tear his butt off and cook a bagel!

Grrrrrrr....

I like it. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Functionality remained virtually identical to its predecessor. Now, let's get back to posting about bikes. There is a forum dedicated to this type of conversation.

I liked the old one a little better, because it was easier to visually scan over a bunch of thread titles, but I might get used to this one. I don't have strong feelings.
Maybe this one will be a more stable platform. (Oh wait, the server is currently down as I'm trying to post this. But maybe that is - and maybe was in the past - a server issue and unrelated to the UI.)

Wait for the ransom note.
Something along the lines of: "we're holding your old forum theme. It's $10.000 in donations til midnight, or else.... No cops and reporters, or he gets the delete button treatment."

Just kidding mods & admins, I like the new forum theme, if nothing else just for a change.

BTW, how does one go about donating to BForums? I lost track on how to do a donation. Is it possible? How?

I *puffy heart* you.

Why does EVERY single graphic designer for a forum or CMS think that the ONLY option available to them is the pillow-embossed, glowing Mac images?

I installed some CMS or another on one of my sites one time. I deleted it the next day and wrote it all myself. F##k puffy glowing images and stupid crap!

I'm not nuts about the new format either. One missing convenience is the old format had a button at the bottom of each thread that let you go back to the main page of particular forum you were on. It's missing here and you have to scroll all the way to the top to get to it.

The first morning this was up, nothing worked. Now it at least seem functional.

I don't really care about the theme but there seems to be more stupid on the forum since the changeover.
