71 Peugeot PX-10 derailleur pulley

One of the pulley's on the derailleur (Simplex) has chipped. I am wondering if I need a specific pulley to replace it with, or will anything work? Thanks.

"anything" will not work, however its probable that the pulley is the same width/size or close enough to that of many pulleys available in the aftermarket. If you have any bicycle co-ops in your area or an LBS with bins of used "crap" I would just start there. you will probably find a simplex similar to yours and then you can just swap out the pulleys (or the entire derailleur). I did this with the ceramic bushing XT derailleur on my MTB. the pulleys were totally worn, so I just went in and found a busted XT with "like new" pulleys. Cost? Free, and that is a lot cheaper than the $15 for standard shimano replacement pulleys.

Its not a 1971 Peugeot derailleur pulley, its a Simplex derailleur pulley. Simplex derailleurs were sold on many bikes during that era, including Peugeots. Simplex derailleurs are different than other brands. +1 Co-op or ebay to find a decent used Simplex derailleur "donor".

I used a Suntour pulley on my 83 Peugeot, the bearing diameter was larger on the Simplex so I drilled out the Suntour one and it works fine.
