racked up 46 miles in temps under 20 yesterday. diddled in the parking lot to set the saddle height & position, and adjusted one set screw, then I was off. the free advice about fitting panned out. was gone for 4 hours, 3 hours in the saddle. made it all the way in to Fenway Park - kinda weird to do that by bike. the bike worked perfectly. I think I'll be liking this bike. but I'll need more saddle time to be an expert with downtube shifters. money well spent? well, the title of the tuneup - "ride ready" - lived up to expectations

Is there a thread where you introduce this bike? I don't think I know what it is.

Oh, right; duh. I'm reading too much, and some has fallen out of my brain.

Wow, this thread is a waste of time. I would think mechanics would be more appreciative of $200 "ride ready" tune ups. More money going your way for less work.
Otherwise, lots of us spend more money on a bike than it is really worth. I've spent a whole lot more than $200 on parts and upgrades on my cheap Trek 400. Don't worry, just enjoy the ride and be happy everything works. I find with used bikes you end up replacing most every component sooner or later. The only stock component on mine is the seat and seatpost.
It's too bad though you didn't choose to do the work and select the components yourself. That's more the point of this forum and the fun of owning a bike.

I have my LeTour torn down to the frame right now. As best as I can see I'm jut going to give it a good cleaning and adjust the brakes and derailers. Wheel hubs seem to be good, I know I won't really know until I pull it apart but I need to get some more tools for that. I've enjoyed this tune-up immensly and the most money i'll put into this bike is maybe new tires...Not sure yet. This LeTour rides extremely well and I can't compare it to anything so...oh well.
I'm jealous that you got some good miles and to Fenway!!!! I live in Southern maine and my group is planning on 2 rides to Boston....We'll take the train in and ride 107 miles back. Can't wait. Great picture of your bike outside the park!!
I loved this post and the negative remarks are going to happen....Bottom line your happy with your ride.....Ride on Brother.

thanks. good luck with it. keep sharing. I'm tempted to ride mine to work tomorrow on super cold dry roads. but I might swim instead and ride the MTB on Wednesday cuz of an impending snow storm. I'm looking forward to riding the new-to-me bike more but I may be saving it for better weather and not commuting on rough roads

yeah, I'd say so. it turned out to be a one-time thing & it was at a time in my life where my bike was really important to me. maybe the tuneup was symbolic. meaning it was my buddy & it's supporting me - so I'll support it. still use the same shop when I need expert work
