148mm bb spindle

i just need to know if a 148mm bb spindle isliterally too long to work on a (1991 ccm mtb frame) ashtabula crank conversion!

Uh, I would think so, yeah. Is it square taper? Generally, 127mm is the longest commonly available.
Edit: Just occurred to me you may have meant a cottered spindle. Those are longer because they extend all the way through the cranks.

It's also possible it's a nutted spindle and you are measuring to the extreme ends of the threaded sections at each end of the spindle. Spindle lengths are specified by the overall length to the ends of the tapers.

Bolted spindles are easy since the end of the taper is the end of the spindle. Nutted spindles are much longer overall but the length shouldn't include the threaded ends.

Also, BBs spindle lengths are determined by the crankset, not the frame.

nutted spindle so it will be as you say smaller

the crankset is an el cheapo no brand thing but hey its worth it just for the pedals i can install unlike on the 1 piece crank

i think im going to try this thing out ,cant really be that bad to try it for a little 12$
