Bikes: Looking to buy a Masi Special track frame 57*57 or thereabouts or a Pogliaghi Italcorse or a De Rosa Prestige. I have owned a Mario Confenti brazed Carlsblad Masi with twin plate fork crown [Brian Bayliss] and 2 later model Pogliaghi track frames.

Can a Nitto Jaguar seatpost be bolted from the top like old Campi Record 2 bolt post?

Hi,

I am considering buying a Nitto Jaguar seat post for my wife's MTB but can't decide whether to just buy an old Campagnolo Record 2 bolt seat post instead.

The reason I wanted to buy the Campi one is that I know it will achieve the purposes I'm after. The first is good looks naturally. The second is security - I want to find my Brooks Swift saddle still on the bike when I've ridden it to the shop and done with my shopping. I know the 2 model is nearly impossible to take off or put on quickly, so should deter opportunistic bike thieves.

I'd like to know whether anyone has tried to modify the use of the Nitto post so that it bolts up from the top of the post by way of two nut at the top of the bolts.

I don't know what the post looks like from underneath it. I am guessing there is a high tension bolt in each of the 2 holes that can be undone with a thief with an Allen Key style pocket knife. I'm guessing this might be where the issues start.

My feeling is that there will be difficulties in tensioning the bolts from the rear of the saddle because the bolt nuts may not be sitting horizontally but rather off on a slight angle. Again I don't currently have a Campi old style 2 post post to consult.

Can someone tell me whether they have done this, seen it done, or have one and can see that it can or can't be done.

If it could be done, what would be required to effect the modification and keep the post looking aesthetic.

Alternatively, anyone got a new old stock 27.2 Campi Super Record 2 bolt seat post in 26.8 for my wife's MTB, and one in 27.2 for my bike?
