If they don't have self extractors, try dropping a suitable bolt in the spindle hole for your puller to push against.

There is actually a part made for this that drops into a standard crank puller but I'm not sure who makes it. Park Tools makes an ISIS/Octalink specific crank tool , the CCP-4.

Park does make a specific puller for Shimano Octalink and ISIS cranks. Shimano cranks w/o the self extractors come with a steel plug that goes in the hollow spindle to give a normal extractor something to push against. This plug is also available as a separate item and has Shimano part number TL-FC15.

Sydney's recommendation to use a close fitting bolt also works. I've also heard a nickel works but haven't tried it myself.

If a nickle works, a dollar bill should work 20 times as well.

You do realize this thread is almost 5 years old. Back then the Euro was worth much less so maybe the one cent coin is now bigger.

Yeah, I was going for the ´resurrecuting the old thread´award! Thought I would add the information for the benefit of others in the Eurozone, for the next time this thread comes up in a forum search!
Cheers
Simon

Bravo for using the search function. An appropriate resurrection, I'd say. Info like this doesn't expire.
We don't use 2 or 1 eurocents here. Everytime I'm elsewhere in Europe and I get some back as change, I'm looking in my hand, "WTF is this?"

If Octalink/ISIS bottombrackets hadn't gone out of style so soon, this might be a good thread to "sticky".

I get sad all over again every time somebody brings up an old post that Sydney had responded to. Sydney was rear ended and killed by a motorist who was downloading ring tones.
