Freewheel seal loose?

I have a Raleigh Sprite (ca. 1975).

With the rear wheel off the bike I was cleaning the freewheel and a black plastic seal came off the end of the freewheel.

It pops right back in but now doesn't want to stay in place. Touching it pops it back out.

I don't think it would stay in place when on the bike.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Thanks,

- Ray -

I'd be pretty surprised if that freewheel didn't need replacing anyway...

But if you want to persist with it, maybe a few drops of superglue?

Thanks Kimmo and A. Winthrop,

1. (for A. Winthrop) I looked closely and don't see any threads on either the seal or where it fits. Both are smooth.

2. (for Kimmo) I like the super glue idea.

3. (for Kimmo) I will take the freewheel to the LBS and ask them about whether or not it needs to be replaced.

Thank you both for you help.
