chain question
ok so i broke my chain a couple of weeks ago and bought a new one today... well i put it together using the power link thing they sent with it, but i made the chain is too long. the link is already locked in... does this mean that i need to go get another link from the bike shop, or as one of my friends tells me, just take the chain apart and just put the pin right back in?

If you have a masterlink type link(two mating links with a keyhole slot at one end and a pin with a groove at the other) then yes you can pop it apart. Turn it ninety degrees to travel and push against the opposing plates with a pair of pliers. Then shorten your chain and reassemble.
If you used a pin to assemble it, cut out the section with then new pressed in pin and reassemble with a new pin.

You will have to shorten the new chain to match the length of the previous chain. If you still have the old chain, you can use it as a reference. You'll need a chain tool to push out the pin and remove the unwanted links.
