Campy shifter help
Ok so my dad has a Raleigh Professional with Campy Daytona 9-speed shifters on it. However, I think they are messing up. When you shift up the cassette (getting easier) it doesn't smoothly go into gear and skips but if you go above the gear you want and then downshift with the thumb shifter it shifts perfectly into that gear. That makes me think that whatever mechanism in the shifter that takes care of upshifts is worn and isn't pulling the cable the correct amount for each click. Since Campy shifters are rebuildable what part would this be? I looked through the QBP book and there was like 30 different parts so I have no idea which part it would be. Thanks, Greg

Poke around here. Sometimes YOU have to know what it is that you need. Disassemble, inspect, and replace as needed

The problem is probably a broken g-spring retainer. If you do an overhaul, buy two g-springs and the g-spring retainer.

Make sure it isn't a cable friction issue by tweaking the barrel adjuster so it shifts to bigger cogs properly, then manually assist the derailleur as you shift to smaller cogs.
If it shifts fine like that, you need to reduce cable friction or maybe increase the return spring tension.
