How To Remove Shimano 3 Speed on Torker Cargo-T Bike?

Hi and thanks in advance for any advice on my question. Recently purchased a Used Torker Cargo T and will be changing the rear wheel. It has the 3 speed Shimano Inter 3 IGH. I have no service manual on this IGH nor do I have any any experience on this type of IGH. . Need to know how to remove and replace the Device and if it should be any particular gear to start the removel. Thanks

BTW--already did a search here but couldn't find exactly what I need. I checked out s. brown's service pages to no avail, at least not for me.

Have you checked the Torker web site for information?

If nothing there then here is the Shimano Tech Docs page that includes downloadable PDFs for Shimano IGH units and shifters. For the Shimano 8 speed hub the shift cable installation/removal info is on the shifter page rather than the hub page.

https://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs...=1270672239766

Generally for a 3 speed coaster brake hub the sequence is as follows.

Unbolt the hub torque arm from the chain stay.

Remove the shift box from the axle. I am not sure how it is retained on the Shimano hub as my experience is with Sturmey Archer and Sachs/Sram hubs which use a shifter pull chain rather than the Shimano arrangement.

Loosen axle nuts and slide the wheel forward in the dropouts.

Lift the chain off of the hub sprocket and move it so that it is outside the axle end and the end of the dropout.

Pull the wheel out of the dropout.

If all else fails join the Yahoo Geared Hub Bikes group linked to below and ask about it there.

TCS & Tatfiend--Thanks a Million for your replies, they were very helpful. TCS--I like the Diagram in your Link a lot--very informative. Thanks to you two, Problem solved ! As I plan on using IGH's and Sram DD's from here on in on my Bikes, I need to familiarize myself with them(IGH) and no better time then now. After having a IGH (first in over 40 years) on my Torker and having experienced the Practicality of it, I doubt I will ever return the RD and FD systems and all their failings and adjustments. I like the Sram DD as well . BTW, FWIW for other interested posters who may experience this same problem, I'm posting another link (below) I found this pm on an earlier search after I already posted my thread here and this guy(below) makes it really simple also:

How to remove the wheel and Shimano Nexus 3 speed Bell Crank?? It's very simple.
Follow these steps:

1) Select first gear
2) Slacken the allen key headed screw which protrudes from the rear of the shiny alloy changer unit.
3) Simply, slide off the unit to reveal the standard nut and washer arrangement you would expect on any standard bike wheel. (Take care not to lose the changer operating rod/slide which fits inside the spindle/axle).
To refit:
1) House and centre wheel in the usual way; tighten axle bolts.
2) Making sure that the sliding rod is in the spinble/axle and simply place the operating unit onto the spindle/axel and retaining nut.
3) re-tighten the allen bolt and that's it! Remember to test the gear operation before riding the bike and any minor adjustments can be made using the cable adjuster on the operating cable.

I would add that if dealing with a coaster brake version of the Shimano 3 speed hub you will need to detach the brake torque arm from the retaining clip on the chain stay. This would apply to the many Electra bikes which use the coaster brake version of the Shimano 3 speed hub.
