Front der. low limit backed all the way out, chain still rubbing
Hi folks,
I have a Surly Cross Check that is in most ways a complete delight. It's stock, except the brake levers were replaced with Shimanos.
I had a relatively minor (for the bike, unfortunately my hand is taking rather longer to feel better) accident that landed my machine on its drive side a while ago. I'm finding that the chain is rubbing towards the inside on the front derailleur cage. I've backed off the low limit all the way, but still there is just a bit of annoying buzzing, nothing bad enough to mess up shifting, but, well, you know. Noise.
For what it's worth the rear derailleur hanger appears to be just a bit bent too, confusingly towards the outside, not in, so I don't see how that would be affecting the chain rub. The front cage has a bit of play in it too--I can rattle it laterally maybe a mm or so.
I suck at derailleur tuning. Is there some obvious thing I could be missing here? Thanks for any tips.

When you shift the FD to the big ring, is it lined up properly or is it hanging way outside the chainring? It sounds like the FD has been bent out of whack.

loosen the FD from the frame and realign it.
then do the cable.
