Wheel shifted to the left after hub rebuild.

I'm rebuilding the rear Deore LX hub on a friends Nishiki Cascade. After rebuilding the hub, the wheel is shifted enough to the left to rub the chainstay. I've checked the wheel on two other frames and it is not centered on those either.

Ideas? I removed the cassete-side locknut - washer - spacer - cone, and have not undone the Non-drive side. I have the same amount of axle threads showing on either side.

Ideas?

Well . . . was the wheel properly dished before you started? If you haven't messed with the spokes at all and it's centered on the axle now--sounds like it was off to begin with.

Ha, it was working fine, I'm just a moron who shouldn't drink beer when wrenching.

I removed the NDS cone after-all. Thinking I had removed the DS cone instead I installed the axle backward. I reversed it and its lining up properly now.

Yep, sounds like you had the spacers mixed-up, and installed the axle backwards (Drive-side on NDS). Glad to hear you got it sorted.
