Stressing New Bontrager
There's an extra set of new Bontrager Race Lites sitting in the garage. But I don't have a stressing tool to break it in. How many miles do I have to ride to stress them before re-truing them?
Thanks in advance |

A tensionometer would not stress the spokes significantly.
If he means a tool to relieve the stress in the spokes, that only requires a couple gloved hands. Stress relieving would not require retruing unless the spokes were overtightened to begin with. |
After assembly, I put one wheel on a hard surfaced floor on one end of the axle and bounce my entire body weight on the rim and I hear lots pings! Nice..... almost feels like poppin' a nice zit. I also squeeze (by hand) the crap outa parrallel spokes on newly built wheels, retrue them, and ride. They may or may not need retruing after several weeks.

I put them down on one end and firmly PUSH against the rim which also gives a nice ping or two... I'm not too keen on the "applying all your bodyweight" method myself.

I have about 2,500 miles on my set and they are still true with no extra attention at all...

Where they hand built? Do they have any miles on them? You can always take them for a spin around the block. 1 lap should do it.
