Maximum throw front deraileurs
I stuck a triple crank on a Super Gear internal gear bottom bracket that already had the triple rings on the output of the drive. The crank rings sit outboard the BBs rings such that one could make at least a properly spaced quintuple crank (although only the bottom 3 would have 2 speed internal gears). Some day I gotta try this!
Abundant Adventures -the folks that make the Mountain Quad kits-recommend old 7 speed triple Fders (and give a cage modification fac) as they have more throw than the modern narrow chain fders. For tackling a quintuple (or perhaps hextuple) crank one would need go further. Anyone know of specifcs which fders have the most throw to begin with?
