cs7900 compatibility problem with rd7800

I have a 7800 rear derailer and wanted to upgrade my rear cassette(11-23) to a 12-27. I ended up purchasing a cs7900 cassette and I'm having issues with shifting down in a few spots. The derailer seems to shift fine climbing the gears, no issue with chain length and the new 27 ring in the rear. But, when it drops down between 13-14-15 it sometimes shifts only halfway. So I have to shift way down and upshift into the gear I want. I put the old cassette back and the problem goes away. I pulled the cable greased ait and it seems to have no friction. Not sure what the issue is. Any thoughts?
