Shimano Nexus 8 loud noise
When I stand on the pedals and hammer, especially on quick steep hills, there is a really loud CRACK and a bit of a skip in the gear box.
There's one little access point to the trail that is very short and steep and I've approached that in 1st gear rolling and then pedaling and from a stop and start and doesn't matter, I get the same loud noise on every stroke when I'm pushing hard.
I've also noticed this when going at speed and standing and hammering but I can't repeat it on demand, sometimes it will, other times it won't.
It's really loud, like something broke in two. Otherwise shifting is pretty good, some delay in downshifting in the 5,6 7 range.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

check you adjustment very carefully. my Nexus was giving me alot of trouble a few weeks ago, similar symptoms loud noise and slipping. I finally discovered that the cable housing was pulling through the stop on the cassette arm.
make sure the shifting alignment marks are perfect and check them occasionally. I am not sure this hub is built for this type of rugged use though. most bikes I see IGHs on are more cruiser and commuter types.

Thanks. took it in the shop about a week ago and the guy adjusted it then. Came back in a day or so. The mechanic there who is a real fan of igh's did it, so i'll drop by again and and tell him that didn't work.
I too am starting to think the Rohloff is the only one that is built for the heavy duty stuff. It's not like I'm super powerful but I do tend to be hard on my bikes. It's to the point now where I don't feel any confidence in being able to beat on this thing.
