Installing a new fork
I have an unused fork that im trying to put on to a bike frame so i can use it for just riding to the store and back, but the neck on the fork sticks out about 3 inches from the top of the headset. Is there anyway i can fix that, or if i have to get a different frame how do i know if it will fit?

What type of bike frame do you have. If you have threaded or threadless, then the solutions will be a little different. Also pictures will help clarify your problem. Basically you need to cut the excess off the steer tube. The best way to do this I have seen, is to use a pipe cutter. Or a clamp with a special slot for a hacksaw.

Waaaiiiit! You may actually WANT that much rise, so first determine how you want to fit your bike and your riding style. I laugh because ironically I just posted a "now" funny experience where I did a fork replacement here... Perfectly Executed Upgrade...or Not?

More information is definitely needed. What type of fork, threaded or threadless? Is the current headset compatible with it? Is the steerer diameter the same as the old fork? Do you need spacers to put the bars at the right height?
Don't cut anything until you are sure you know what you have and what you want to accomplish.
