Giant Boulder SE

Hi,

I just bought a used Giant Boulder SE and have a few questions:
1. Where on the bike should I look for the year it was made? (Didn't have a lot of time to try it out when I bought it due to an unhappy child situation..argh)
2. I got it home, it sat for a week and the back tire was flat. I pumped it up, road it a short bit and it's got a slow leak. Is it worth it to try and find it and patch it or just replace the tube?
3. I stupidly assumed the seat would lower (see number 1 comment about said child)....I've tried adjusting the seat and it seems like it is on the lowest setting. My cheapo bike, the seat would go all the way down. This one appears to be hitting something and won't go down anymore. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,
1 I dont think the date will be on the bike anywhere, you could look here https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/ go down to archive and try to match yours to one there.

2 If its a slow leak you should be able to fix it easily with a patch kit, you might have to inflate the tube and dunk it in water to find the hole.

3 Maybe the seatpost is hitting a water bottle holder bolt or maybe the post is bent? I'm not sure.

You should be able to determine the year by looking at bikepedia and matching up the components, color and decals.

I would just buy a new tube.

Seat post should go all the way down. Post a picture so we can see what is happening.

I know on my GB SE the seat could go pretty far down. Theres nothing that it should hit except the seat itself. IMO, tubes are cheap, unless you spring for a high quality one. I'd rather install a new tube and either keep the old for its many uses or patch it and keep as an emergency spare. Got pics? Mine is an '09, blue & black.

Thanks to all who responded and the link to the bikepedia!

Looks like a 2003. Darker blue, men's 19 inch.

And, Sc0tt was right about it hitting something. Duh....Amy..pull it off and look inside. There's not a water bottle holder attached, but I guess the two parts it screws into inside the frame. Seat post is 12 inches long....stops with 4 left out of frame.

Thanks again for the help and links!
