S-Works E5 Semi Integrated Headset == stiff feel

My new S-Works E5 (04) has a semi-integrated headset that seems to have alot of drag. The bearings have significant drag even without having any tension on them, though they are not at all rough feeling. Can I expect these bearings to loosen up as they break in?

I'm sad to see that Chris King does not seem to offer replacements for this headset. Does anyone know or a replacement of similar quality for this application?

Thanks
