can i replace a Hollowtech II MTB with a Hollotech II road?

the bottom bracket on my MTB is buggered. it was a hollowtech II with XT cranks. It developed serious resistance when turning so i took the crank out today and looked inside - buggered (some white giooey stuff coming out from the bearings, a messy view).

Now, i have an extra road BB, also hollowtech II, brand new (came with my compact crank, never used it). it looks exactly like the one on the MTB, except it says "road" on it, next to "do not open" instead of "mountain".

Are these two similar? Can i use the road one on my MTB?
