upgrade front derailleur

I have a 2004 Trek 2100 with ultegra rear, 105 shifters, and tiagra front. I am wondering if upgrading my front would make any difference (is it worth it)? Is there that much difference between tiagra and 105. Or how about tiagra to ultegra?

Thanks for any help!

Your front derailleur is not that important and does very little work. If the Tiagra dies then replace with 105, the cost is not that much more and the unit is better. If the rear goes bad then consider DuraAce back there if you want a snapper shift response, otherwise stay with Ultegra.

my point being: If I upgraded the levers, then dura ace rear would not be a waste. right?
