I use The cheapest I can find. KMC's work just fine. I have over 10,000 miles on an 8sp. one now. I clean mine with an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner and oil it with home brew.

ive always wanted one of those cleaners.

Harbor freight has them cheap onsale sometimes. I probably should have gotten a cheap chain and spent the leftovers on the cleaner

I get the best chain I can. When I am many miles from the car, probably out of cell phone reception area, and every time I shift, I appreciate a fresh, clean, reliable, well shifting chain.

I got 1830 miles on my last 9sp Sram chain. It was still (barely) in specs, since I obsessively service the machine after every ride. Cost per mile, and per smile, is next to nothing.

Harbor Freight's cleaner is worth the bucks.
