Lockring differences with Campy/Shimano 10sp systems

Are these lockrings interchangable? or are the diameter/thread-pitch on them different? etc

I have an american classic conversion cassette that has campy spacing, but works with SHIMANO hubs..

i need to know if the shimano lockring tool will work with this, or do i need the campy tool.....
thanks again, guys.

Campy and Shimano lockrings do not have the same thread diameter and do not use the same removal tool. If the cassette fits on a Shimano hub I have to assume it has a Shimano compatible lockring. Why not call or e-mail American Classic and ask?

It should be a shimano lockring with that conversion cassette.

The splines are 'wider' on the campy lockrings.

thanks robo

parktools website also follows up with more of campy/shimano made up standards:

Campagnolo cassettes- BBT-5/FR-11 (for Campagnolo cassettes, not freewheels)

12 splines, approx. 22.8mm diameter
------------------------------------------------------

ShimanoŽ cassettes, Sun RaceŽ, HugiŽ, Many brands- FR-5, or FR-5G with guide pin

12 splines, approx. 23.4mm diameter

figure those different diameters indicate if its a shimano hub, its a shimano lockring.

thanks, needed to know as i don't have the wheels on me...

got too fat for those shamals

A bit of information for those interested in such things; Note that Park's Campy lockring tool has a "BBT" (Bottom Bracket Tool) designation. That's because the same tool also fits Campy cartridge bottom brackets.
