I have the Jtek bar end shifter Shimano 8 speed IGH version and it works very well. IMO much better than the Shimano twist shifter and faster operating than the double lever shifter.

the brifter you linked to Review reads like it's still for a derailleur mech. (4th paragraph)

2 shift levers, up and down, brake lever does no shifting.

This one, linked to by someone else, IS made to shift a Nexus/Alfine hub

seems like they will sell it, have to get it thru pound sterling British currency based seller and import from UK,
though it is a Taiwanese made product,
{unless there is a trip to Hong Kong Planned, and you can find that in shops there**

    I don't own a Shimano IGH.

The Versa brifter for Shimano 8-spd IGH has been widely available in N.A. for around a year now.

My Jtek bar end IGH shifter works fine.

I've been shifting a SRAM T3 hub with a low spec Shimano L.H. brifter for almost three years. That works fine, too.

That combo would make a nice around town bike. Do they make a left hand brake lever to match the brifter?

Here is the versa shifter from a American source, AEBike.com. I have not personally tried it but understand it works well though it is reported to have a fairly long throw for the shift lever.

If you want your derailleur bar end shifters to operate the same just replace your rear derailleurs with "High Normal" versions. That will cause the action to be reversed.

Been using the jtek shifter with Nexus red band hub for a bit over a year and a bit over 3000 miles. The shifter is built to last, a very positive and crisp click.

I emailed Sussex and they said that the brifter comes with a matching left hand brake lever.

Batavus, I'm really sorry to hear Jay passed away. He's been sick for a while.
