MTB bike rear derailleur and STI?
I'm thinking of getting a wide ratio 9 speed MTB cassette for my road bike. Can I use a SGS mtn bike rear derailleur with it? Will the derailleur work with 9 speed STI if I ever decide to upgrade?

Yup. That's been pretty much the standard arrangement on stock road tandems for several years.

You might have to istall attenuators or "brake booster" to increase your pull when using V-brakes. The boosters are small pulleys made from aluminium that increase your brake pulling force. These pulleys replaces the bent noodle on your V-brake.
