Need nutted axle - don't know what length or where to order!

I'm trying to replace a QR with a nutted axle - it's a 130mm spaced shimano cassette hub (so I * think I'll need a 1.0 thread pitch axle -- like most shimanos).

What length
do I need to ensure that the nuts will have enough threads to grab? I was going to try a nutted axle from an old 6 speed bike, but I can already tell that the axle is going to be just a bit too short.

I know someone out there has done this, so I figured I'd ask .

Measure between the outside faces of dropouts (pull the wheel out first) and add another 2.5 cm or 1 inch for the axle nuts and washers.

The distance of the outside faces of the dropout = 150 mm. With 2.5 cm added I'm at 175 mm.

So 175 mm with the 1.0 pitch. Is the 1.0 pitch the same as the listed 10.0 pitch I keep seeing?

Is there any problem with going wider than 175 other than just having more axle sticking out?

Thanks BTW!

Expect its a 10mm diameter axle, x 1 thread per mm pitch

longer is good , you can add a trailer hitch on the left side..

Be sure to readjust the bearings. You need to take the play out of the bearings because the nuts do not compress the axle.
