Decal Peeling on My New Trek Madone

I just recently placed a Moonshine Light on my bike with the battery holder around my top tube. The LBS placed it on with plastic ties and now it has wrinkled one of the decals. Any suggestions on how to repair or if the decal can be replaced?

Your bicycle is not in need of repair.

I had a similar winkle on the top tube on my 2100. I believe it came when I had the bike in the repair stand. I decided to leave it be. My only suggestion would be to gently heat the decal with a hair dryer and try to smooth it out with your finger.

I bet a Trek dealer could get replacement decals for you, but sometimes they are covered with clear coat and it may be a bigger deal to change it than what you may want.

You could also bring it to the LBS that mounted the accessory and see if they can help.

I know how you feel - I try to keep my bike perfect, but with 3,500 miles on it since last June, the little dings are starting to add up. I guess it's part of the game.

Good luck.

thanks qmsdc15! I did not say that my bike was in need of repair. I appreciate your response JBBOOKS. I will give a try with the hair dryer tomorrow.

When you make an investment on a bike of this magnitude you certainly fret over nicks & scratches. It is almost like a car when you first buy it you tend to notice every inperfection, after a while it does not matter as long as it runs.

That's a load bearing decal.

Why not ask your LBS?

Use a big piece of duct tape with the name "Schwinn" scribbled across it.

Buy a beater to mount a light. Why are you putting a light on a race bike?
