Headsets are they very DIFFERENT??

Fist, I am a newbie, and I am in the mechanics area, that is a double whammy, so bear with me..

If I take a headset off 52 size bike, can it be put on a 60 size bike as long as the threads are the same?

thanks in advance..

many different "standards".

You mentioned threads, so I'm going to assume threaded rather than threadless.

With threaded, the majority are 1", but there are some other ones out there (French, 1 1/8", etc)

With 1", you need to know if it's JIS or ISO. If ISO, it can be British or Italian threaded.

Then you have to consider stack height.

So, to make this [maybe] easier, tell us what you can read on the headset you have, and what brand/age of bike you own.

We were all new to this. Leaf through the dozens of pages from Sheldon Brown and you'll learn a lot. Also, the repair section of the park tool site is a good resource.
