where to stay for UBI school?

I've signed up for the UBI Introduction to Bicycle Maintenance class in January 2011 (the next one that has openings), in Portland, Oregon.

If you have taken any classes at UBI Portland and stayed in a motel/hotel, which one did you stay at and would you recommend it?

Their list of hotels and motels lists a range of places from $30 a night up to $94 a night.

    Thanks

how long is the school? a few weeks ina hotel at $100+ a night adds up. your $30 a night is likely to be either a real dump or an extend stay type place that you need a 90 lease to get that rate.

I could never afford school but fortunatly I apprenticed to a great shop owner who was a machinist before he opend his shop.

Good idea; I think I'll start there and if I can't hack it, move to a motel/hotel. The reason I may not be able to hack it is that I'm an old geezer (57) and I'm a wee bit old for the hostel scene.

If it doesn't work out, email/IM me. I don't live close (across the river in fantabulous Vancouver, USA), but I work a couple blocks from the UBI place. I'll see if the cats will give up the spare room for a couple days.
