26" wheels on a Baby Jogger - need to find hubs.
I'd like to replace the 20" spoke wheels on my Baby Jogger with a set of 26" Mavic M400 (I'm very tall and could use the extra 3" at the handle). To do this, I'll need to replace the existing Shimano hubs with something that will accept the Jogger's 13mm axle. I can't scavenge the Jogger's hubs because they don't match the spoke-count of the Mavic rims. Can anyone tell me what type of hub I need?
thanks,
Glen

Single sided / wheel chair hubs , you can buy some from Phil Wood, for example,
and specify the drilling .

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like it may be more cost effective to sell the Mavics and find some 20h rims so I can use the existing hubs.

you may be able to find 20h rims in 700c. i dont know of any off hand though. a knobby 26 is close to a slick 700c race tire in outer diameter

Will the front fork be able to take a bigger wheel? Looks like there could be some clearance issues. Or were you planning to leave it as-is?
Otherwise, for a lightly loaded application like this you could cut your own hub flange adapters (basically wide rings) out of sheet metal, screw them onto the current hubs, drill them any way you please and lace them to new rims. A bit labor-intensive, but not as bad as it sounds.

Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper and simpler to extend the handle?

I do like the simplicity of raising the handle, but back to spending the OP's Money..
There are single sided Generator hubs too ,
So you could charge your cell phone as you run fast on the jog..
then put them into a tadpole trike, as they're made to go on those..

I agree. In addition, with larger wheels, there's that much more chance of kicking the wheel while running or walking. I find that when I'm pushing a standard-issue cart I need to walk to one side to keep from kicking the wheels (I'm 6-foot-4). Larger wheels also raise the center of gravity, making tip-over more likely.
A 700c-wheeled, hub-generator equipped baby jogger appeals to my appreciation of the bizarre, though. When the kid gets a little older, this would be totally cool: https://www.vanillabicycles.com/thejo...details/bike2/

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! It turns out that the simplest solution was staring me in the face. I swapped the quick release 16" front wheel from our single jogger onto the double jogger. That lowers front - and raises the back. Voila!

But now the kid is sitting at a face forward angle and hanging on for dear life to avoid slipping forward and out of the chair and onto the Front Wheel Of Death.... Seriously, be sure he's still sitting in some sort of bucket or it would be like you sitting at the dinner table with a 2x4 under the rear legs.
