sram components differences?

Besides weight what is the difference...
I mean is it the shifters or the RD that is the big deal. So Could I use the rival shifter with the red RD and still get the same fell and trustworthy **** as red , or would it be better to go red shifters with rival RD ?
Thank ,
John
PS . I ride sram now and love it .. just building a new bike and wanting to save some cash

for me better shifters make more of a difference in feel than derailleurs. the derailleurs do get better as you move up the line and performance increases. stiffer linkages offer better shifting under load, for example. basically you gotta pay to play

Called sram .. red is the only ones with zero lose. So you could use Red shifters with rival , apex and get the benefits of zero loss. But using force or any other shifter you will only get zero loss on front d.
