I call the ones with an 800 #, and talk to their inside sales people, when it is offered.
the Q&A back and forth works out better that way.

It takes more time to fill out all the forms involved in not talking to people.

I hate people, so I'll take the time to fill out the forms.

Universal Cycles, JensonUSA, bikeparts.com, etc.

I've recently taken to buying parts through bikeparts.com. They're owned by the bike shop that's in town here, so I just ride on over and get my parts when they arrive.

Tree Fort Bikes, free shipping over $125.
Chain Reaction Cycles in the UK, Free shipping over $238, but otherwise only $23 to the USA. Some stuff is priced no better, some is priced way better.
Wiggle.UK Free shipping to USA over $79. Great deals on many parts.

I like to keep business with my lbs when possible but many times the answer to my question is "we can order it for you" followed by a two to three week wait. This is unaceptable and particularly for comon components. My online resources:
Blue Sky Cycling - Great pricing on "Combos" such as brakes and levers, Rear der and shifters etc. http://www.blueskycycling.com/

Universal Cycles - Great for most items. I like to buy my spokes and rims here. Prices are good and spokes can be bought in smaller than box quantites.
http://www.universalcycles.com/

Others I use from time to time in no particular order.

ProBikeKit.com is another great source. Typically have free shipping to the US and their prices are awesome.

+1 on Jenson. I've found their prices better than most others and their service is excellent. Licktons in Chicago is excellent for Campy components in particular.

Use spadout.com to find good prices on the items you're looking for. I commonly order from about 6 different places, depending on the specific items I'm looking for.

+1 more for treefortbikes.com. I just found em lately; wish i had found em a loooong time ago.

I also have love for jensonusa.com. pricepoint.com is great for last year's sram chains/cassettes, last year's mavic wheels (if you enjoy such things), and oddball deals. universalcycles if you need wheels built. They charge their current price for components, and no additional labor fee!

Biketiresdirect has great prices, not only tires. But I buy most of my stuff from my LBS.
