Changing campy freehub body from 8 to 9-speed?
Hello,
is it possible to upgrade 8 speed campagnolo rear hub into 9 speed by changing the freehub? I was thinking about taking the 9 speed freehub from veloce hub and placing it into record 8-speed one... thanks |

You may need to move the axle too (Athena/Veloce shared an axle - I have no clue if that's due to the freehub or other differences). |

IN my opinion will be cheaper just get a new hub set. MIche rc2, like 90 bucks. Good stuff.

Campag also sells a freehub driver to use 9 speed shimano cassettes, its a C note,
then more common and wider range cassettes can be used, beneficial like on tandems and tourers, ... its interface is steel , not aluminum. in stock at Cambria .. at last web search. http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.a...+Free+Hub+Body |

1999 Chorus/Record, 2000-2007 Centaur/Daytona/Chorus/Record, and newer Record hubs all have over-sized aluminum axles which take different free hub bodies than the older designs (meaning all 8 speed hubs) with 10mm steel axles. Both types of freehubs exist for Campagnolo's Taiwanese built Fulcrum hubs but I don't know how they interchange, or whether the Campagnolo branded cartridge bearing hub 10mm bodies swap (obviously the axles don't). |
They have Romanian factorys now too, Campag is outsourcing
like the rest of capitalist exploitation of labor. :bang: |
I've done it on my veloce/mirage sealed hubs with the steel axles.
