Bearing cones for Shimano R600 wheels

My friend bought a used bike that I turned her on to, a Specialized Roubaix Comp. I thought everything was well and fine after changing the FSA bottom bracket, cassette and chain, but I failed to notice that the front wheel was not that smooth. I later took it apart and found the bearing cones are badly pitted (probably from water). I can't find these parts anywhere and even though I found some Ultegra 6600 wheels to replace these, I hate to toss them just because I can't find bearing cones. Any ideas?

Many bike shops have Shimano cones; if you can't find them in a local bike ship, try Loose screws, www.loosescrews.com. They have a good assortment of replacement cones made by Wheels Mfg.

I tried all the shops I go to and they said they don't have it and can't get it from Shimano. Loosescrews is a good tip, but they don't have it either. The dimensions are M9 x 20mm with a dust cover and seal. Any other ideas?

Many thanks

Consider yourself to have completed your search with due diligence, and go ahead with the replacement wheels.
This is the down side of us living in such a "throw-away" society.

Cantact Wheels Manufacturing and ask if they have a "will fit" replacement. You may have to settle for a close but not exact duplicate. Often the dust cover and seal are just pressed onto the cone body and can be removed and reused if you are careful.

Also, you could contact Shimano directly:
