Litespeed crest (logo) change?

Hi!

I was wondering when Litespeed Changed their crest/logo on the front of the headtube.

If you can't see the pictures. Before year 2000 they were using a knight with a shield that had a colored flag behind it.

In 2004 they started using only a shield with a big "L" on, but with the same colored flag behind it.

I am interested in knowing, when was the last year that litespeed was using the older logo with the knight on.

I have been looking in to this for some days now, and i know it must be somewhere between year 2000 - 2004

Thanks for reading!

My "new" to me Litespeed is a 2003 model and it has the knight on the headtube badge.

I like the knight better than the new, more Spartan new logo.

I think the colors in the flag are from the bike world championship. My Bottecchia has stickers sporting those same colors.

My '96 has the "knight" logo and my '05 and '06 frames have the newer "L" version.

One advantage of the L-logo is that mine are fastened to the headtube with two tiny Allen bolts while the older knight-design was held only with double-sided tape. I had to superglue my knight headbadge back in place as the tape failed pretty early on.

My friends tell me that the company was sold and that the original owners are back in business building bikes under a new name.

My 2002 Litespeed Classic has a badge with no Knight, but is held on by 2 rivets, not Allen bolts.

Yes the Lynskey family sold Litespeed and now make frames with their namesake on them
and a very cool head tube badge.

Thanks for you replies

I have been trying to contact Litespeed, but havent got an answer yet. (headtube badge question)

But I am asuming that the last year they used the olde knight badge, was in 2003.

Since a 2003 Classic model has it, and other 2004 models hasn't.

When Lynskey sold Litespeed. Was that before or after launching the 1999 bicycle series?

Hmmm, they may indeed be rivets. My head badges are attached with what look like bolts since they have hex recesses in the heads. However, none of my SAE or metric Allen wrenches fit so the hexes may be just for appearance. In any event, they have never fallen off, which is what the older knight-style did.

Just received a answer from Litespeed about the headtube badge question.

And it was that "He thinks 2003 was the last year useing the old logo."
