'81 Schwinn Sprint needs some new gear!

Hi all! I'm new to the forum so I'd like to take this opportunity to say what's up to all of my fellow bicycle enthusiasts out there. I have had my Schwinn for about 6 months now and when I first got it the bike rode perfectly but I ride it everyday and it has recently started to have some problems. The rear hub is messed up. The guy at the bike shop said that it was "bent" and that I would need a new one. I decided I would just go ahead and get some new wheels because the one's that are on the bike now are stock. So my first question is what is a good 700c wheelset for my bike? I want something with good performance somewhere within the 2-300 dollar range. Also, I think my bottom bracket might be messed up. I don't even know where I would go to find something like that for a bike this old. I'm wondering whether I should just replace the whole crank set. I'm eager to get some feedback on thgis because I have no idea what I'm talking about! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a Ton

Your bike shop should be able to replace the bottom bracket for around $20-30. If they can't, take it to a different shop that can.

I'm not sure what you mean about the hub being bent. You probably just have a bent axle. If your hub is truly bent, I can't imagine the bike is very rideable.

Frankly, the Sprint was a low end bike at the time. Honestly, if you have $2-300 to spend on a wheelset you're better off just going on Craigslist and getting a different bike. You can get a pretty nice used road bike for $300. But if you really like this bike and want to keep it, there are lots of wheel options out there.
