Hi,

Just noticed a crack on the down tube right above the front crank on the drive side. It's in a U-shape. I can't see any fibers, but can feel it. I'm wondering if you think that this is a big issue? I have no idea how long it's been there or how I got it (never crashed, stored inside, taken good care of). Thanks

It looks like a scratch in the topcoat, possibly from leaning the bike against something. Send me your bike/frame and I would be happy to perform some non-destructive testing to ensure whether or not it is ok to continue riding it. PM me for a shipping address.

If that scratch can be flexed with you thumbs and is softer than the rest of the frame it is structural. If you are original owner show it to your bike shop as warranty or crash replacement. If you are not original owner then Calfee Design in California can repair your frame very reasonable. They have price list on line and do excellent repair work. The shop I work at has done 6 or 8 now and all were done very nice.
