avid shorty ultimates

I bought some shorty ultimates the other day. Today, I installed them on the front and everything was going fine until I tightened down the right bolt to spec. now the right arm is binding. The left arm is fine but the right is binding. Could the right canti post be slighly shorter and causing it to bind? I did everything by the book and the tension was correct with the 15mm wrench and i used a torque wrench to tighten the bolt. if I back the bolt tension to very minor, then everything works properly.

Any thoughts?

sounds like the post is short,
see if you can get a 'safe edge' file, and file back the shoulder on the boss.
Safe edge is a file with no teeth on an edge,so you will just file metal off the part you want to,
and not off the rest of the boss.

plan B) thread lock the end bolt so the binding is not there,
then the thread lock will keep it from loosening.

file a little bit of the brake off, these brakes are such a pain in the rear.

the rears installed perfect. the issue was just on one boss in the front. I removed "maybe" 1mm from one of the brakes. Everything is fine now. Torqued to spec and ready to race.

Once you understand how to setup the brakes, it is amazingly easy and they work much better than any canti I have used. I joked that my Avid Shorty 4s were more like speed adjusters than brakes.
