Keeping a Bolt from Loosening

I have one of these stems:

and the problem it has is that the bolt that adjusts the angle tends to work its way loose, and the top creaks.

Should I put some Loctite on it, or is there something better?

Thanks.

Proper torque is probably better. A lot of riders are afraid to tighten relatively large bolts adequately and they tend to come loose because of that. If getting it properly tight isn't sufficient, then Loctite is a good Band-Aid to compensate for poor design.

Use blue loctite so you can losen it with a wrench. Use red if you do not want to remove the screw without application of heat. In either case, clean the threads on the nut and bolt before application.

If you still have issues with it lostening, find out what angle you like and then buy a fixed stem to match.

Blue Loctite and proper torque will keep the bolt in place. Many times only a new, non-adjustable stem will fix the creaking.

Or buy a stem that's not adjustable.
