Avid SD7 Vs - difference btw fr and rear?

I am looking at buying a set of V brakes and saw Avid Single Digit 7s at one retailer. They have a higher price for the front bake than the rear. I always thought Vs and cantis were the same front and rear and just needed the pads swapping round. I can't see any difference between the two in the description.

Is there any difference? Can I buy 2 rears and just change the pads on the front one?

thanks

AFAIK, from the noodle to the pads, they are identical. It sounds as though the listing mistake is a typo error.

Could be a difference in the noodle. 135 degree vs 90 degree.

The only difference that I've noticed is the orientation of the brake pads.

Thanks for the replies.

mobaar, that is the only difference I could think of but a new noodle is less than the price difference.

This is usually the case between the front and rear V-brakes.

+1

I have these brakes on my T700 - that's the only difference I've noticed.

Mine didn't cost more for front vs rear - I got them as a set on e-bay for about $50.

Nope, it ain't the noodles.

At least not with SD-7s. I just picked up a set (front and rear) this afternoon. Saturday my 10 year old grand son is going to install them with me. The noodles are identical (90 degree). The brake pads, however, are marked left and right and have a front and rear. Since the arms face opposite ends of the bike, the pads have to be oriented differently.

Unless there's something that I missed you can buy two rears (or whichever is cheapest) and reorient the pads to fit on the opposite end of the bike.
