Well here is how my first White Lightning application went, please advise

So I posted yesterday about how to clean a chain in prep for my first app of White Lightning. This is on a new Bianchi with 150 miles. The chain looks dirty so I wanted to wipe clean and relube.

Here is the deal, my chain manufacturer says NOT to use solvent on the chain. So, I assiduously cleaned the chain as best as I could with a rag and q tips. It looked great.

Once I applied the WL all of this grit ran out such that the chain is dripping with dirty waxy WL. The dirt sort of came out of the rollers. Well, what do I do now? Did I essentially use the WL as a cleaner? Should I solvent / soda bottle clean the chain? Should I just not worry about it? Should I reapply WL? Should I just slap on some wet lube? Please advise!

The manufacturers suggestion not to use solvents needed to be qualified to add - unless you allow the solvent to dry and relubricate before riding.

That's what you did. White Lightening has a high percentage of solvent as a vehicle to wick the solid product into the chain. Obviously that would violate the do not use solvent statement, but since it carried lubricant into the chain and deposited it there all is good. Next time you can do a better job at lower cost by using mineral spirits or naphtha (solvents) to wash the chain first, then allowing it to dry before applying the lube.

Pipe cleaners bent in half work really well. Forget Q-tips. bk
