Chain popping out of 11 tooth cog

I switch it a 11/25 cassette, problem is the chain wants to pop out, not continually, but maybe every 100+ feet or so. It's a 7900 cassette, 7800 RD, 7800 shifters, 7800 chain. Chain is still between .5 - .75 on the gauge, but does have a quick link. Any thoughts?

It only pops out of the 11T cog? Probably a high limit screw adjustment issue. Look and see if the derailer is lined up underneath the 11T when in that gear.

smaller they are the faster they wear, because less teeth share the load..

Shimano has a smaller lockring for 11T cassettes as campagnolo does?

Yes, if you don't have the special 11 cog lockring that is the problem. You're probably ready for a new chain also.

I'm not sure, dealer installed. I usually just use a pin. Lock ring is ok, I adjusted the limit, but didn't seem to change anything. I'll put the new chain on. Thanks!

+1 for checking the RD. See if everything is properly adjusted and there's not much play. If there is play, when you stand up, you add extra tension. That could cause play in the RD to increase, changing its position slightly and causing a skip.

You could also check to make sure the RD cable is lubed in the bend by the BB.

I've had this problem maybe three times on two different bikes. It's been something with the RD every time.

Like clockwork, every 100 feet, make 7 crank revolutions - pop - 7 crank revolutions - pop? Sticky or worn chain link. See if you can time it so you stop right as it pops, maybe you'll catch it with the quicklink right over the 11t cog.
