How to straighten a bent fork?
My fork is bent, I've removed it from my bike, any advice on how to bend it back?

pavement_nyc, Where's it bent and what's it made of would help... not to mention pictures.

Put it back on the bike, take the wheels off the bike, put the ends of the fork in between the rungs on a paint ladder, and pull/push on the back of the bike frame, gently (you have a lot of leverage) to straighten the fork.

Needs to be replaced.

If just a little out, there is a bike shop tool to check it's alignment,
Just take it to your Pro bike shop. If crash damaged, I'm +1 0n getting it replaced. I would check the bike's frame for damage too. |
What it is made from and what is actually bent and by how much matters. You need to give us more information and ideally a few pictures to get a decent answer.

A minor bend in a fork can be repaired while more significant bends warrant replacement or attention by a skilled frame builder who can assess the fork for damage and judge whether or not the fork can be saved.
Bent fork... http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...anchifind1.jpg Straightened fork... frame was undamaged and you would need to look very closely to see any signs of straightening (ie paint cracks). http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...anchijoel1.jpg This model has an exceptionally strong and stiff frame and the fork was bent at the lower section so the fork crown was not affected. It was straightened by a builder who has over 30 years experience with such things and he says it will not fail under normal use unless it's owner drives it into the back of a car. Alignment is perfect and the bike is as stable as a rock. |
